INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS 2018

INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS 2018

Back to 2017’s Greenery.

Every December, Pantone sets an annual president with its color of the year, and with 2018’s choice of Ultra Violet, it’s looking to be a year of experimentation, color focus and designs made by thinking outside the box.

Greenery has been a rising trend for a while now, with more and more people filling their homes with foliage in a bid to counteract our increasingly urban lives, but I think 2018 is going to be the year it really comes of age. And I’m not just talking about houseplants; I see our need to reconnect with nature spilling over into everything from wallpaper prints to fabric patterns, as well as smaller home accessories such as ceramics and tableware. Green upholstery is also set to become a key trend, particularly plush velvet in eye-catching shades of forest green, pine and emerald.

Research has shown that adding a live plant to working space can be incredibly beneficial. Have you ever wondered why nature landscapes are popular choices as screen backgrounds or even screensavers? One reason is that nature has been shown to have a restorative effect on workers – that is, simply gazing at scenes of nature or at a plant or flower on our desk actually refreshes us. It essentially gives us a bit of a break just by looking at it.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
